Development Chemist/Senior Development Chemist-- 1969 to 1979

• Developed laboratory procedures for analysis of incoming raw materials.
• Developed water based size formulations for fiber glass textile products, both starch and resin based.
• Developed plastisol coating yarn for window screens which is still the industry standard.
• Developed and demonstrated new process for warping textile yarn.
• Responsible for development of resin compatible glass weaving yarns.
• Led major effort in developing glass fibers for wet laid products for roofing industry and asbestos replacement. Heavily involved in customer trials and technical service.
• Patents granted for weaving yarns, plastisol coating yarn, and fiber glass products for wet laid applications.

PPG Industries, Inc.-- Shelbyville, IN

Chemist-- 1965 to 1969

• Developed water based binders and fire retardant coatings for fiber glass insulation.
• Responsible for obtaining UL ratings for insulation products: led effort for UL 181 for rigid duct system.
• Participated in development of resorcinol/formaldehyde coating systems for fiber glass tire cord.
